The impact of commodity trade in inflation and international exc hange rates in Iraq for the period (2004 – 2022 )

Abstract
The study seeks to trace the path of the commodity trade movement in Iraq for the period (2004-2022), which was greatly affected by the transformations in the global economy, by studying the structure of exports and imports and the impact of this on the economic variables represented by inflation and international exchange rates. In general, commodity trade must be managed effectively and appropriate economic policies implemented to maintain the stability of the Iraqi economy. This can be achieved by enhancing local production of basic goods and diversifying the export base to reduce dependence on imports and improve the balance of foreign trade. Policies to combat inflation and improve citizens' purchasing power should also be implemented.
To reach the goal, the researcher used the inductive approach, the descriptive method, and the analysis of the data related to the research. The study concluded that there are economic effects on the movement of trade in basic commodities, represented by the impact on changes in the prices of those commodities. Therefore, it became clear that Iraq’s position in the field of international exchange is positive thanks to its export potential for the latest commodities. The mission is global
